The Aire 25 Festival, taking place on the weekend of 14 and 15 June 2025 in Santiago de la Ribera, San Javier (Murcia), is set to be one of Europe’s most significant airshows this year. Organized by the Academia General del Aire (AGA)—Spain’s prestigious Air Force training academy—the event marks the 40th anniversary of Spain’s national aerobatic team, the Patrulla Águila.
On Saturday, 14 June, the AGA will open its doors to the public for a special Open Day, allowing visitors a rare glimpse inside the academy. This day will include guided tours, static displays of aircraft, interactive exhibitions, and opportunities to meet pilots and academy personnel. It offers a family-friendly introduction to military aviation and the training behind Spain’s elite air force pilots.
The highlight of the weekend takes place on Sunday, 15 June, when the skies above the Mar Menor will come alive during the international Aire 25 Airshow. Scheduled to run from 10:00 to 15:00, the show will feature spectacular aerial performances from some of the world’s most renowned aerobatic display teams. Most notably, the Red Arrows, the United Kingdom’s famous Royal Air Force display team, are confirmed to participate. Their appearance is part of a stellar international lineup that includes the Patrouille de France (France), Frecce Tricolori (Italy), Patrouille Suisse (Switzerland), and of course, the host team, Patrulla Águila.
The festival is free to attend and is expected to draw a crowd of up to 500,000 people, making it the largest airshow in Spain for 2025. Visitors are advised to arrive early to secure a good viewing spot along the beaches of Santiago de la Ribera, where the best views of the airshow can be enjoyed.
The Academia General del Aire, which has been training Spain’s military aviators since 1943, plays a central role in the nation’s defense and aerospace education. It is based in San Javier and is home to the C-101 aircraft used by both trainee pilots and the Patrulla Águila.
